Hook Bar

Three heavy-duty hooks that drop onto the top poles of any pop-up hunting blind or ice shanty. No hardware, no straps, no tools. Lift it on, let it wedge down, and start hanging gear.

Wet hunting jackets are heavy. A loaded daypack is heavy. Gloves, gaiters, a hat, a scent pack, a bow on a sling. By the end of a sit a hook bar can be carrying ten pounds, and most 3D printed blind hooks are flimsy little tabs that bend on the first big parka.

These don't. Each hook arm is 0.87 in wide and 0.75 in thick of solid plastic, with a 2.17 in reach and an upturned tip so nothing walks off the end.

Mounts up top, out of your way. This uses the same bracket as our Compound Bow Hanger, so it hangs high on the blind's poles rather than down at shoulder level where a loaded coat gets in your way.

It wedges itself tight. Each bracket has an angled ramp on the underside. As you lift the bar onto the pole, the pole rides up that ramp and the bar locks itself down under its own weight and the weight of whatever you hang on it. No creeping down the pole halfway through a sit. The ramp angle is not a guess — we printed it two ways and tested both in a blind before locking it in.

Three hooks, spread to the corners. The outer hooks sit 0.79 in from each end of a 13.39 in bar, with the third centered. That leaves 5.04 in of clear space between adjacent hooks, enough for a bulky insulated parka to drape without smothering the hook next to it. Three is the right number for a two-person blind: jacket, pack, and one more for whatever you are carrying that day.

Fits: pop-up hunting blinds with fiberglass back poles up to 9/16 in (14mm) diameter. Same mount as our Bow Hanger, so if that fits your blind, this does too.

One thing worth knowing. Depending on how your blind's walls pull on the poles, an empty bar may sit cocked upward toward the roof rather than dead level. It drops level the moment you hang anything on it. On my own blind I have come to like it, because the hooks tuck up out of head space when nothing is on them.

Works in the ice shanty too. Same brackets, same drop-on install. The top poles in a pop-up ice shelter take it exactly like a blind does, so a wet bibs jacket, a gear bag and a bucket lid hang off the ice instead of soaking in the slush. Hunting season and ice season barely overlap, so one bar covers both.

Install

1. Find the top pole where you want it.
2. Hook the bar's two brackets over the pole.
3. Let it settle — the ramps pull it tight as it seats. Load it up.

To remove: lift up to unseat the wedge, then pull forward. Stows flat at 1.54 in thick.
